Screen Time · real orders · your own brokerage

Each open of Instagram buys a pass for $1 into AAPL — up to 3 a day, 15 min each.

↑ a real Doomo rule. You write it one tag at a time, then sign it.

Doomo shields the apps that eat your evenings behind Apple's Screen Time. Getting past the shield buys a timed pass — and the money buys stock you keep, in a brokerage account you already own. Doomo never touches it.

The Doomo rule builder on iPhone, mid-sentence: 'Each open of Instagram buys a pass for $1 into VOO — up to 3 a day,' with the next question, 'How many opens a day is fair?', and a dial set to 3.
The loop, on a real device

Shield, then a choice, then a real order.

  1. Doomo asking which app the shielded token belongs to, with Instagram selected from a shelf of popular apps and a 'This is Instagram' button.

    01

    The picker is nameless

Apple hands Doomo an opaque token — the app you shielded is unreadable by design. So Doomo asks, once, and remembers.

  2. The Doomo unlock screen: 'Instagram. 15 minutes. That's $2 into AAPL you keep.' above a printed receipt and a slide-to-open control.

    02

    The open is priced first

Every number is on screen before you commit: the minutes you get, the dollars it costs, the ticker it buys. Then slide — or leave it closed.

  3. Doomo placing the order: 'Buying $2 of AAPL…' over a receipt marked PLACING, showing $7.08 of AAPL owned.

    03

    A real order leaves

A fixed-dollar fractional order goes to a brokerage account you already own and already funded. The shares are yours; Doomo holds nothing.

How it works

The friction has to buy something.

  1. 01

    Shield the apps

Pick the apps that eat your evenings. Doomo shields them with Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework, in self-monitoring mode — your own device, not anyone else's. The shield token stays on your phone and is never uploaded.

  2. 02

    The open is a choice

Open a shielded app and you get a shield, not the feed: Unlock & Commit, or Leave it closed. Committing buys a timed pass for the minutes you allowed yourself. It does not remove the block — when the pass runs out, the shield comes back.

  3. 03

    The pass buys stock

The money is a fixed-dollar fractional order into the ticker you chose, placed through SnapTrade into a brokerage account you already own. No in-app purchase, no subscription, no funding rail. Doomo never holds, receives or transmits your money.

When reality doesn't cooperate

Doomo never animates a purchase that didn't happen.

Doomo's unlock screen when the brokerage cash balance is short: 'Your cash is under $2, so no order will be placed — this still opens, and AAPL waits until you top up.' The receipt is stamped CASH TOO LOW.

Cash short? It opens anyway, and says so.

Doomo never runs the count-up, the PLACING line or the paid stamp for an order it did not place. The break still opens. The screen says nothing was bought.

Doomo placing an after-hours order, with the line 'Adding this trade — it buys when the market opens…'

Market closed? The order waits for the bell.

A 9pm open rides the same pipeline as a noon one; the broker queues it until the opening bell. Nothing is gated or delayed — only the sentence Doomo says changes.

What's real today

Pre-launch, and specific about it.

First real order
25 Aug 2026
$1.00 of AAPL at $309.71, placed from the phone through shield → unlock → the founder's own brokerage account, confirmed by the brokerage's own push notification.
Held today
$7.00
Cost basis in AAPL, bought one open at a time, sitting in an account Doomo has no access to and earns nothing from.
Apple entitlement
5 App IDs
com.apple.developer.family-controls is granted per-App-ID by request, and it is the only reason app blocking is possible at all. Approved for LUMIC, INC. on the app and every Screen Time extension.
Native, not a wrapper
7 targets
Swift extensions on FamilyControls, ManagedSettings and DeviceActivity — shield configuration, shield action, activity monitor, usage report — plus a Live Activity and five widgets.
Tests
3,512
Passing across 226 files, measured 2026-08-28. 733 of them are guard tests: one named test per standing founder decision, so "where did that go?" is answered by a test name.
On the App Store
Not yet
Three rejections so far. Two are resolved — an entity conversion, and a missing entitlement. The third named a single broker in the UI; the fix was architectural, and the review thread is still open.

How it gets built

One non-technical founder and an AI engineering stack.

41 pull requests merged on 28 August 2026, in eleven hours. 167 in four days. That pace is only survivable because the governance is stricter than the throughput.

  1. The ledger is the law

A 402KB append-only decision ledger holds every founder ruling. Before any agent calls a difference "drift", it reads that file — a deletion recorded there is a decision, not a bug. It has a "Not yet decided" section, and resolving one of those alone is a violation, not initiative.

  2. Guards are a requirements registry

733 guard tests, one per standing requirement, indexed by a meta-guard that fails the build if you add a guard without registering it. The doctrine, learned the hard way: a guard must check what RENDERS, not what is defined — a guard that greps a copy module passes green while two screens show nothing, which is worse than no guard, because it reads as covered.

  3. Every guard is mutated by hand before it counts

Before a PR merges, an agent deliberately breaks the new code and confirms the guard fails, then records the tally in the PR — 17/17, 20/20. A mutation that survives means the guard is fake. This caught one: a swapped branch restored a false spending ceiling with the whole suite green. The condition was still there; the words were wrong.

Doomo isn't on the App Store yet.

There's no waitlist form here, because there's no waitlist behind it. Email the founder and you'll get the TestFlight build the day it opens, from a person, not a list.

Doomo is a screen-time app. LUMIC, INC. is not a broker, a broker-dealer or an investment adviser, gives no investment advice, and never holds, receives or transmits your money or securities. Orders are placed into a brokerage account you already own and already funded; account connectivity is provided by SnapTrade. Investing through Doomo is optional and off until you connect a brokerage — with none connected, every break is free. Investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal.
